Janis Blaswich extends his contract

Janis Blaswich is staying!

Our goalkeeper has signed a one-year contract extension, meaning his deal is now valid until 2026.

40 games and DFB-Pokal winner

Janis Blaswich joined RB Leipzig in June 2022 from Dutch side Heracles Almelo. He made his RBL debut on 20th August 2022 in the 2-1 away defeat to Union Berlin. After Péter Gulácsi unfortunately tore his ACL against Celtic in the Champions League, Janis took over as the regular goalkeeper and has played 40 competitive games for the club, keeping 14 clean sheets in the process. He also saved a penalty against Borussia Mönchengladbach on matchday 24 of last season. His first campaign with the club ended in excellent fashion with the DFB-Pokal title in May 2023.

Gladbach, Dynamo, Hansa, Almelo, RBL

The 32-year-old played 110 games in the Eredivisie for Heracles Almelo. He previously had spells with Borussia Mönchengladbach II (127 games), Dynamo Dresden (31 games) and Hansa Rostock (38 games).
