Interview with Xavi Simons
Xavi Simons on…
… his first days at RB Leipzig
- “We trained really hard, but there was enough time to recover well.
All in all, we are a good, young team. The first training sessions with Marco Rose also had a lot of lessons to take from them. One of the reasons that I decided to join RB Leipzig is because of him.”
… the type of player he is
- “I always give 100% every game and want to win every game. Obviously, I like to score goals and get assists, and want to help the team to achieve our objectives.”
… his time in Eindhoven
- “It was really quite a good season for me. I also made my debut as a Netherlands international and even played at the World Cup.”
… familiar faces
- “I knew quite a few players from before. I looked up to Dani Olmo in the academy at FC Barcelona. I also know El Chadaille Bitshiabu well from our time together at Paris St. German.
It’s an exciting group and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with the boys.”
… his idol
- “I grew up in Barcelona, so my idol was always Xavi Hernandez. That’s why I’m named after him as well.
… speaking different languages
- “I speak Dutch at home with my family, with my brother I speak Spanish and with my little sister it’s a mix with English as well, and of course French. I leant English and Catalan at school. I’m now really looking forward to learning German, for sure.
In the next five months, I’m going to learn it and then in January 2024, I’ll do my first interview in German, I promise!”
