• “I came here to develop myself as a player first of all. In the first year, I wanted to learn about the league, because I didn’t know much about the Bundesliga, but I learned quickly because I had the perfect conditions. The first year went very well, and then the second, third and fourth even more so!

  I’ve had a great time here and think that I have developed enormously step by step and for that I would like to thank the club for being patient and having a lot of faith in me. I will always be grateful for that.”

…his highlight: 

• “My footballing highlight was when we won the cup last year. It was a very difficult game, but we were able to win due to our mentality. It was a credit to the team and the fans, who were amazing behind us.

  This title reflects the mentality of the club, which is strong with the absolute will to always play forward and never give up. I think this is the best example of the mentality of the club and also what this club wants to achieve in the future.”

…leaving the club:

• “I will miss the many friendships I have made here. I wish my teammates all the best, and I hope that Leipzig will continue to be as successful in the future and win the league next year – why not? And I wish the club the success it deserves. I wish the club only the very best.

  To the fans, it’s hard for me to find the right words for what I think and feel, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, because without you I could never have achieved what I have achieved here. That’s why I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
