Attention turns to Union following 5-1 win over Stuttgart!
On Sunday 3rd September (kick-off 17:30 CEST), our lads will travel to the capital to face FC Union. After an intensive training session, the players signed autographs and posed for photos. Lukas Klostermann(slight muscle problem) and Yussuf Poulsen(after a collision during the home game against VfB Stuttgart) are training individually to manage their workload.
In addition, our new signing Christoph Baumgartner spoke from the sidelines of the training session to discuss his recovery from injury, the Champions League draw on Thursday (18:00 CEST) and the challenge in Berlin.
Here’s everything from the public training session!
Christoph Baumgartner on…
… his injury recovery
- “It’s definitely getting better for me. I been out for some weeks due to my condition. For me it’s about collecting my energy in every training session and giving everything on the pitch.”
… the Champions League draw
- “I’m excited for the Champions League. I would of course be very happy if we face Real Madrid or FC Barcelona in the in the group stage and then still progress. It’ll be something very special for me to play in the Champions League and I’m excited for the challenges ahead of us.”
… the upcoming opponents, Union Berlin
- “It’s always a challenge to play at the Alten Försterei. I’ve had some very positive experiences in away games against Union Berlin. For example, my first Bundesliga goal came against them.
I’m assuming that it’ll be an intense match. Union always play with lots of passion. For us it’ll be important to not give away set pieces, as they’re very dangerous from those. If we have the firepower on the pitch that we showed in the second half against Stuttgart, we can beat every team in the league.”
