The line-up
Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo made four changes to the team that won 3-2 at VfB Stuttgart. Pavel Kadeřábek and Florian Grillitsch, who were carrying knocks from the game in Stuttgart, were replaced by Ihlas Bebou and Anton Stach, while Mergim Berisha started in place of Tom Bischof (bench). Robert Skov missed out due to Achilles tendon problems, with Marius Bülter replacing the Dane.

Moment of the match
A big chance to take the lead fell to Mergim Berisha in the second minute, but the TSG striker was thwarted by Nico Schlotterbeck on the goal line. TSG would not get a better chance than that.

TSG were away to Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal for the third time. Like in 2007/08 and 2014/15, the trip unfortunately marked the end of Hoffenheim’s cup run.
