Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim set the course for a sustainable future strategy by launching their “TSG is movement” initiative back in 2018. Far-reaching progress has since been made in the five defined fields of action (Staff & Players, Innovation, Ecology, Youth & Fans, Africa) thanks to the cooperation of all departments at the club.
In light of the growing importance of the issue, the complexity of related projects and also the documentation requirements and reporting obligations, TSG have now managed to recruit a proven expert in Anneke Siebert. Siebert most recently held a similar position at SV Sandhausen. Prior to that, she was employed by a company that made it possible to calculate a carbon footprint using new software solutions. In addition, she participated in the central DFL advanced training course at Leuphana University in Lüneburg.
TSG Hoffenheim have also made a far-reaching decision at the top of their Corporate Development Department. Stefan Wagner’s contract has been prematurely extended by three years until 31/12/2026. In cooperation with the management and TSG’s Director of Communications Christian Frommert, Wagner is responsible for the development and establishment of “TSG is movement” and for corporate development. He also represents TSG as an elected representative of the Bundesliga on the DFL’s Sustainability Commission. The 51-year-old economist also holds mandates at other sporting organisations. With the active participation of TSG Hoffenheim, he founded Sports for Future in 2019.
“TSG have established themselves nationally and internationally as a pioneer of innovative and sustainable transformation. But in line with our ‘TSG is movement’ initiative, we do not want to rest on our laurels. We see sustainability as an issue that the entire organisation is responsible for. Strategies and concepts must be developed centrally to this end. That is why it was important to expand our core team. In addition to Stefan Wagner, who is one of the leading minds for sustainability in German sport, we’re pleased to have gained another expert in Anneke Siebert, who will act as a source of ideas and coordination alongside Stefan Wagner,” said Prof. Dr. Jan Mayer, who is responsible for corporate development, among other things, as the Managing Director at TSG Hoffenheim.
