Robert Skov: “We made mistakes and they are immediately punished in the Bundesliga. Then things get difficult against such a strong defence. Irrespective of that, we didn’t do enough with our possession. But we lost the match in the first half. I don’t think there’s a difference for us between home and away games, just because we’ve won every away match to date. But we want to get better at home and win our home games. We will get back up again and want to do better in Stuttgart next week.”
Kevin Vogt: “We made simple mistakes. Even though we had more control in the second half and gave away a lot less, it must be acknowledged that we did not create enough in the final third, we lacked punch. The forward momentum wasn’t there and we played too sloppily. Frankfurt exploited our mistakes brutally and defended well. I don’t think Frankfurt were significantly better than us; we beat ourselves today. We have now dropped points in two home games in a row due to individual errors; we have to work on that. We’ll learn from it and want to do better next week.”
Oliver Baumann: “The goals we’re conceding happen too easily. That has to improve. Not only from the players at the back, but from the entire team. But Frankfurt were difficult to defend against all over the pitch. After falling behind, there were still opportunities to make it 2-2. We then went in at the break 3-1 down instead. We probed a lot in the second half, but Eintracht were very solid. And to score four goals on a day like this to win was just too much today and we didn’t manage it. We still had a few chances, but we ultimately could not break through today. We will now analyse the game well. The objective is then to play better football in Stuttgart and win the match.”
Pellegrino Matarazzo: “Both teams played well offensively in the first half. But we punished ourselves through individual errors. Despite the control in the second half, we created too few chances. The mistakes that we made cannot happen at this level. We were not forceful against a very compact Frankfurt team. Nonetheless, we had moves that we could have made more of. We had sufficient chances to score at least one more goal. We need to work on our game against deep-lying opponents.”
Dino Toppmöller (Eintracht Frankfurt coach): “The omens were not in our favour. Sebastian Rode was out for a long time, as were Mario Götze and Kevin Trapp at short notice. Despite the early goal against us, the team was mentally strong; we played really well in the first half in particular. That’s why it’s a deserved victory. We then defended well and gave little away, even though Hoffenheim have many good individual players.”
