Nine training sessions and two friendlies in a week: coach Pellegrino Matarazzo demanded a lot from his players; the training camp in Kitzbühel was demanding for the TSG first team. At the end, the TSG coach came to a conclusion and spoke openly about his impressions. “I like to address problems head on; it was not all top. But the lads pulled together well and took the criticism on board well,” said the head coach after the stay in Austria. Overall, though, the positive aspects clearly outweighed the negatives. “A training camp is always arduous and uses up a lot of energy, but it’s fun to work with the boys.”
The preparations for the new season will now continue in Zuzenhausen. TSG still have two friendlies to play against renowned opponents before their first competitive game away to VfB Lübeck in the DFB-Pokal in three weeks (14 August, 18:00 CET / Live Ticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de). The 55-time Scottish champions Rangers will be the visitors to the PreZero Arena for the big season opening event next Saturday (29 July at 15:30 CET). A week later (5 August) TSG will head over to Great Britain, where coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s charges will take on Fulham in London.
