Frustration and anger along with disappointment were the prevailing emotions in the Blue-Whites’ camp after conceding in the eighth minute of additional time to lose 2-1 against VfB Stuttgart. After the full time whistle, Jean-Paul Boëtius tried to find the right words. “A game lasts until the final whistle. We are very, very annoyed because we definitely wanted to win and get three points,” said Hertha’s number 10, visibly frustrated. Hertha need to keep their head up ahead of the game on Saturday (12.11.22, 15:30 CET), where they take on 1. FC Köln at the Olympiastadion. “Why shouldn’t we turn up and win against Köln? The time has to come where we manage to pick up good results. I believe in the coach and in this team!” said the Netherlands player leaving no room for doubt. herthabsc.com have the immediate reaction from Boëtius and Oliver Christensen.

Jean-Paul Boëtius:A game lasts until the final whistle. We are very, very annoyed because we definitely wanted to win and get three points. But yet again we didn’t play tidily enough in transition a few times – that was already a topic of discussion after the game in Bremen. All in all, we have not collected enough points, we know that. Still, we have to deal with it, keep working and pick ourselves up again. Why shouldn’t we turn up and win against Köln? The time has to come where we manage to pick up good results. I believe in the coach and in this team!

Oliver Christensen: We have to say honestly that the last ten minutes have too often not been good enough. If we are drawing 1-1 shortly before the end of time, we have to be smarter and more focussed. We let the opposition play too much; in these decisive moments and phases of the game we have to be better as a team. Otherwise, we will drop points, like against Leverkusen, in Mainz, Bremen, and again here. Then it is difficult. We definitely wanted to win and to get three points. The last game against Köln is now extremely important. We have to go out there and bring the year to a decent end.
