Following the friendly away to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, Emre Can spoke about the match, his contract extension and the captain’s armband, which is still to be reassigned.
Emre Can on the friendly in Erfurt:
“We tried out several things, and it can only get better. We have heavy legs, we’re at the beginning of pre-season and had two tough sessions yesterday. That’s normal, we’re at the beginning of pre-season and want to get fit for a long season. It should be fine by the time it starts.”
…on his contract extension:
“It was important for me to sort that out. After the final match (editor’s note: of last season), Sebastian Kehl spoke to me and I told him that I would very much like to extend my contract. I feel extremely comfortable in Dortmund and am happy that I’ll still be here for a few more years. The last half a year has been good. That’s my yardstick. I want to confirm these performances. But I know: it’s starting from square one again now.”
…on the future team captain:
“I’m a bad person to talk to about this matter. You should ask the coach about that. I wouldn’t be disappointed if I didn’t become the captain and I would be happy if I did. I’ll try to lead the way whatever happens. My task is to help the team.” (br)
