After rounding off the group stage with a 1-1 draw away to FC Copenhagen, Edin Terzic, Thorgan Hazard, Nico Schlotterbeck and Felix Passlack shared their thoughts. The match reactions.
Edin Terzic (at the press conference): “It was a deserved draw. There were lots of scoring opportunities at both ends. We needed a bit of time to find our way into the game; we were not aggressive enough with our pressing and wanted to win the ball back while jogging. We were able to play the game more quickly in the second half, both on the ball and off it too. The substitutions gave us some fresh momentum. But we didn’t manage to score – and gave away too much too. Now it’s about achieving a positive outcome in our final three Bundesliga matches and pooling all our energy. Both Gregor and Mats signalled in the half-time interval that they were experiencing slight problems. We wanted to take absolutely zero risk.”
Thorgan Hazard (to BVB TV): “Although we were sure of qualification, we wanted to get a win. The first half was difficult for us. They played well and had a lot of scoring chances. We also had good chances in the second half but the 1-1 draw is – I think – deserved.”
Nico Schlotterbeck (to DAZN): “We didn’t play well, but Copenhagen did. They earned the 1-1. We started the game okay and had a lot of control over the ball. Then our passing game lacked tidiness. We got ourselves into a bit of trouble. We were lucky; Greg made some good saves again in the first half. We were slightly better in the second half; we had a few chances. In the end, the 1-1 draw is fair. It was a good group phase, we went through. Now we’re looking forward to our round of 16 opponent. Whoever we’re up against – they’ll need to beat us first.”
Felix Passlack (to BVB TV): “We invested too little on and off the ball, so it was a deserved draw.”
