The Borussia Dortmund U19s have continued their impressive winning streak in the Bundesliga and beaten the Fortuna Düsseldorf youngsters 4-0 thanks to goals Julian Rijkhoff (2), Danylo Krevsun and Cole Campbell. The result made it nine wins from nine matches this season for Mike Tullberg’s squad.

Following their 2-1 victory away to Newcastle United, the A-Junior Bundesliga West leaders found themselves up against fifth-placed Düsseldorf. The BVB U19s last lost a Bundesliga match on 19 November 2019. The opponent that day was Fortuna Düsseldorf. Tullberg’s charges went on the attack from the beginning and took a 1-0 lead with only six minutes on the clock. Julian Rijkhoff converted a penalty for handball in his usual confident manner. The action subsequently moved more into the midfield, with BVB looking to attack quickly down the flanks. A sprint from Cole Campbell could only be stopped in the penalty area by a foul and Rijkhoff again converted the ensuing spot-kick in ice-cold fashion to make it 2-0 (22).

Having awarded two penalties to the Black & Yellows, the official pointed to the spot for the visitors in the 36th minute. BVB keeper Robin Lisewski showed his capabilities and made a strong save. Shortly before the half-time whistle, Danilo Krevsun deflected a shot from Julian Rijkhoff into the net following a series of corners (45+1.).

After the restart, BVB continued to go forward with dominance. Another corner brought about the next goal, with Cole Campbell firing home a poor clearance into the back of the visitors’ net on the volley from around 15 metres out (57).

BVB subsequently created several more chances but could not manage to convert them into goals.

The youngsters will next be in action when they visit MSV Duisburg next week (Saturday 4/11 at 11:00 CET).
