Borussia’s U17s are aiming for a fourth consecutive win in the B-Junioren Bundesliga West. “We want to continue our winning streak and go into the subsequent international break feeling good,” said coach Marco Lehmann before the local derby on Saturday (11:00 CET) against VfB Waltrop in the Volksgarten Mengede.
The newly promoted side caught the eye with a 0-0 away draw at 1. FC Cologne last time out. “Waltrop are not opponents you can simply brush aside. This will be a game that requires patience,” said Lehmann, who expects his team to perform with similar levels of concentration as they showed in the 4-0 win against Arminia Bielefeld: “We must not allow them any set-piece situations and we have to find creative solutions again in order to carve out chances against opponents sitting deep.”
BVB, who will have to make do without Luca Riedl, Jonah Markötter (both injured) and Elias Benkara (sick), have worked their way up to fourth place in the table behind Schalke, Paderborn and Leverkusen. “So far, the boys have done very well,” said Marco Lehmann, praising his side. The coach will once again be able to call upon Joshua Burstedde and Mussa Kaba against Waltrop as they have recovered from injuries. (wiwi)
