Gregor Kobel and Jude Bellingham have been voted into the 2022/23 Team of the Season by their fellow professionals in the VDV (the Professional Footballers’ Union in Germany). Bellingham also won another award.
The 11 best players in their respective position are chosen for the “VDV 11”. Gregor Kobel convinced his fellow players between the sticks (51.8%), while Jude Bellingham was selected in midfield (76.9%). The other players chosen in the Bundesliga Team are Joško Gvardiol (Leipzig, 36,7%), Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich, 56.8%), Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich, 31.7%), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 56.3%), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich, 38.2%), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich, 45.2%), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich, 65.3%), Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt, 73.4%) and Niclas Füllkrug (Werder Bremen, 57.3%).
After winning the DFL Player of the Season Award, Bellingham has also been voted as the VDV Player of the 2022/23 Season by his fellow professionals with 29.6% of the vote. He was followed by Randal Kolo Muani in second place (28.6%). Munich’s Jamal Musiala came third (13.7%).
With 14.6%, Edin Terzic came third in the vote for the best Bundesliga Coach of the Season. Urs Fischer of Union Berlin (34.1%) finished above Freiburg’s Christian Streich (22.2%) in top spot.
All the players in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, third division and the regional leagues, as well as the other VDV members, are eligible to vote.
