The Borussia Dortmund first team have six games in the calendar for April – five matches in the Bundesliga plus the quarter-final of the DFB-Pokal in Leipzig. The U19s also have important fixtures coming up in the form of two German Championship semi-final games against their Hertha BSC counterparts.

Saturday 1 April (14:00 CET): U23s vs. Hallescher FC
The first team and the U19s aren’t the only ones with important games to play in April. Borussia’s U23s will kick off the month with a highlight in two respects. The game against Hallescher FC marks their return to their home stadium, the Rote Erde, after over a year away. The last time the U23s played there was against Eintracht Braunschweig on 21 March 2023, with subsequent renovation works putting the stadium out of action until now. The game also has huge significance in terms of the table: the two teams, which occupy 15th and 16th place, are narrowly above the drop zone and are looking to pick up important points for their survival bid. If you want to attend, the box office will be open. (Read the pre-match report.)

Saturday 1 April (18:30 CET): FC Bayern Munich vs. BVB
Head coach Edin Terzic’s team will kick off the month with a table-topping Bundesliga clash in Munich. “We can take a huge step forwards in the table this weekend because we’re playing against a direct competitor. The team in first is playing against the team in second. It’s going to be an exciting game which everyone is looking forward to,” said BVB sporting director Sebatian Kehl as he looked ahead to the game at the Allianz Arena. The reverse fixture between the two teams at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK certainly won’t be forgotten in a hurry by anyone who was involved. Having fallen 2-0 behind, Youssoufa Moukoko scored to give BVB a lifeline (74) before Anthony Modeste levelled the scores at 2-2 in the fifth minute of stoppage time to send the stadium into raptures. (Read the pre-match report.)

Wednesday 5 April (20:45 CET): Rasenballsport Leipzig vs. BVB
There will be another English week in store for the Black & Yellows in April. BVB face a tough away trip to Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals. Around a month ago, Terzic’s charges came out narrowly on top against the side currently fifth in the table thanks to a 2-1 victory. However, Borussia suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Saxony side in the first half of the season. The last meeting between the two teams in the DFB-Pokal was the final in 2021. Dortmund ran out 4-1 victors in that match at the Olympiastadion in Berlin and lifted the German cup for the fifth time in their history.

Saturday 8 April (15:30 CET): BVB vs. Union Berlin
Bayern Munich, Leipzig and Union Berlin – a challenging week for BVB will be rounded off with a home game against the Iron Ones. Coach Urs Fischer’s team currently occupy third place in the table and managed to beat the Black & Yellows 2-0 at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei at the start of the campaign. Borussia Dortmund have won all three of their previous Bundesliga home games against Union (5-0, 2-0 and 4-2).

Monday 11 April (11:00 CET): Hertha BSC U19s vs. U19s
Like last year, the Borussia Dortmund U19s have been crowned Western German champions. After 15 rounds, coach Mike Tullberg’s team tops the western pool with 37 points. They will now face their Hertha BSC counterparts in the semi-finals of the German Championship, in what will be a repeat of last year’s final. The Black & Yellows ran out narrow 2-1 winners in the 2022 final thanks to goals from Bradley Fink and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. The capital club finished as the champions of the North/North-East pool. The reverse fixture on Easter Monday will take place at the Stadion auf dem Wurfplatz (Berlin). (Ticket info)

Saturday 15 April (11:00 CET): U19s vs. Hertha BSC U19s
The Youth Stadium in Dortmund-Brackel will be the venue for the return fixture between the two youth teams only four days later. BVB will be hoping for a result that keeps their dream of defending the title and winning a 10th U19 German Championship in total alive. 1. FC Cologne and Mainz 05 will go head-to-head in the other semi-final. The final of the A-Junior Bundesliga is scheduled to take place on 23 April.

Saturday 15 April (15:30 CET): VfB Stuttgart vs. BVB
A short while after the final whistle in the U19 semi-final, the Borussia first-team are away to VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. BVB won the reverse fixture against the Swabians in impressive fashion, with the scoreboard at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK reading 5-0 by the full-time whistle thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham (2), Niklas Süle, Gio Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko. BVB last suffered a defeat in Stuttgart in November 2017 (2-1).

Saturday 22 April (18:30 CET): BVB vs. Eintracht Frankfurt
Two successive home games in the Bundesliga – after the Swabians, the Eagles from Frankfurt will visit Dortmund a week later. The match against the 2022 UEFA Europa League winners is also the game of the round on Matchday 29. Both the reverse fixture on the Main (2-1) and the most recent meeting with Eintracht at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK (5-2) ended in victory for the Black & Yellows.

Friday 28 April (20:30 CET): VfL Bochum vs. BVB
BVB will round off an intense month with a trip to Castroper Straße to take on VfL Bochum in an all-Ruhr clash. The two teams already met each other under the floodlights at the beginning of February, with Borussia running out narrow 2-1 winners following a hard-fought encounter in the DFB-Pokal round of 16. Their last Bundesliga meeting on Matchday 13 saw Borussia Dortmund claim a comfortable 3-0 home victory.
