Borussia Dortmund will play the 1909th Bundesliga match in the club’s history this Sunday. An opportunity to look back on some other milestones.

The 1909th goal

was scored by Fredi Bobic on 29 August 1999 at the Donaustadion in the 12th minute to give BVB a 1-0 victory away to SSV Ulm, whose goal was kept by Philipp Laux, who has been working for Borussia Dortmund since 2020. kicker reported at the time: “Ulm played the offside trap in defence, which often worked but did not for the goal of the day. Reina passed while on the ground to Bobic (level with Radoki and not offside), who converted clinically.”

The 19th coach

39 different coaches have taken charge of the 1908 Bundesliga matches completed so far, a tally which does not include interim managers who oversaw fewer than three matches. The 19th Bundesliga coach in the club’s history was Friedhelm “Timo” Konietzka, who was born in Lünen. He was one of the greats in our club’s history as a goal-getter but did not enjoy any luck as a coach. He was in charge from 1 July until 24 October 1984 (three wins, eight defeats). The longest managerial tenure belongs to Jürgen Klopp (2,555 days). The 2011 and 2012 title-winning coach oversaw 318 games. He is followed by Ottmar Hitzfeld (273) and Matthias Sammer (185).

11-1

Borussia Dortmund’s biggest victory came against Arminia Bielefeld on 6 November 1982.
