Edin Terzic, Marcel Sabitzer, Felix Nmecha and Gregor Kobel spoke to the media following the 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
Edin Terzic (at the press conference): “It was a deserved defeat for us. Everything we had planned for the game didn’t come together, especially in the opening stages – and then we found ourselves 2-0 down after eight minutes. It took us far too long to get into the game. We tried to exert some influence on the game, but we couldn’t match the pace or the ball control of our opponents.”
Marcel Sabitzer (to BVB-TV): “They went 1-0 up from the first corner of the game. Then we started to shake, we were wobbling. We had a good chance in the 45th minute. With a bit of luck, we go into half-time with the score at 2-1. But it wasn’t meant to be and it would be a stretch to say we deserved it. It’s extremely painful to go home after a defeat like that. They were the better team. In the second half, after their double chance, we had a brief spell: if we pulled a goal back, we might have been able to make a game of it.”
Felix Nmecha (to Sky): “We weren’t brave enough, especially in the first half. We didn’t capitalise on the chances we had. The fans were still behind us. That impressed me.”
Gregor Kobel (to Sky): “The better team won. I had the sense that Bayern were more aggressive in the tackles and more dangerous on the counter-attack. We should have been better in defence. Bayern were given too much space, they were more dangerous and they came out more aggressively at the start of the game. We should have kept a more compact shape from the start and looked to hit them on the counter.’’
