Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko has been named in the provisional Germany U21 squad for the upcoming European Championships in Georgia and Romania.
The DFB on Friday morning announced a provisional squad of 26 players that will make the journey to the training camp in Prad, South Tyrol on 10 June. The U21 coaching staff led by head coach Antonio Di Salvo has until the evening of 14 June to submit their final 23-man squad to UEFA.
Among those nominated is 19-year-old BVB attacker Youssoufa Moukoko. Moukoko made 26 Bundesliga appearances last season, notching seven goals and four assists. In addition, he played six games in the UEFA Champions League and three matches in the DFB-Pokal (one assist in each). Moukoko took part in the Qatar World Cup with the German national team in the winter. At the age of 18 years and three days, the BVB striker became the youngest player to ever represent Germany at the World Cup in the 2-1 defeat to Japan.
The BVB man has so far scored six goals in five appearances for the Germany U21 national team. He was previously named in the squad for the U21 European Championships in 2021 at the age of 16.
The U21 EURO finals will take place in Georgia and Romania from 21 June to 8 July 2023. Germany will go up against Israel, Czechia and England in Group C.
