At the request of Borussia Dortmund, the Dortmund District Court has appointed Matthias Bäumer, general manager of the team sports division at BVB equipment supplier PUMA, as a new member of the supervisory board of Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA. He succeeds Björn Gulden, who left the supervisory board at the same time as he left PUMA at the end of last year.

Bäumer, born in 1966 in Siegen, North Rhine-Westphalia, has been working at PUMA since 2007 and was previously employed at Kraft Jacobs Suchard and MAXXIUM (both consumer goods companies).

“We have known Matthias Bäumer for many years, have already come a long way together and have an established relationship of trust. We are glad that in Matthias Bäumer, someone with great expertise in the sports business and especially in the football business is joining our supervisory board,” said Borussia Dortmund’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke.

“As a native of Siegen, Borussia Dortmund has been a part of my life since childhood,” says Matthias Bäumer. “It was a dream come true for me, so to speak, when I was able to bring PUMA and BVB together in 2012 in my role as general manager for the German market. I am proud that in my current position at PUMA as general manager for team sport and now also as a member of the BVB supervisory board, I can continue to accompany and help shape the future of this exceptional club. I am looking forward to the new task and to many more incredible games.”
