He made his Bundesliga debut when he played for 38 minutes for FC Bayern Munich in an away game in Mainz on 19 May 2007, the final matchday of the 2006/07 season. The 2007/08 campaign – during which he joined Borussia Dortmund – was his first “real” season in the top flight. Mats Hummels has since scored at least one goal every season. Today, he found the net to make it 3-0 against Eintracht Frankfurt.

That means the 34-year-old defender has now scored at least one goal for 15 Bundesliga seasons in a row! Only six players have previously achieved that feat, including Michael Zorc, who found the net in 16 consecutive campaigns from 1982 to 1987 (as did fellow record-holders Olaf Thon, Holger Fach, Bernd Nickel and Willi Neuberger).

Incidentally, Mats Hummels has scored 19 of his 30 Bundesliga goals in total with his head, including the one today against Frankfurt from a Guerreiro cross. Hummels also registered the most touches of the ball (88) and was the toughest-tackling Borussia player with a challenge win rate of 77%. (br)
