After the 1-1 draw in the friendly against Chelsea and before the homeward journey to Germany, BVB coach Edin Terzic gave his take on the USA Tour and spoke about new signings Ramy Bensebaini and Marcel Sabitzer.
Edin Terzic on the Chelsea match:
“It was an important test for us. The match was not only intensely fought by both teams, but we put a lot of passion into it too. We’ve now been travelling for 10 days and have improved from game to game. Today we battled for the win until the end. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep a clean sheet until the final whistle. But when you see what the lads have invested in the days of training and the matches: a big compliment. It shows we’re on a good path.”
…his take on the USA Tour:
“We discussed and demonstrated new topics every day and tried to coordinate and improve on the training pitch. You could see that too. When you look at how we played almost a week ago in San Diego: even though it was a victory, we were not content with a great many things. It was significantly better against Manchester United and today the procedures were even clearer. We gave a lot of young players a platform once again today, to play against Chelsea in Chicago. The lads were very courageous, we wanted to see that.”
…Ramy Bensebaini:
“Ramy immediately settled in from day one and has repeatedly showcased himself in training and put himself forward for matches. We’re very satisfied with that. In the game, it looked as though the opponent stepped on his foot. The shinbone is slightly swollen but he wanted to play on. Ramy was very courageous in attack, repeatedly showcased himself and was really good in defence too. We hope that he continues that way.”
…Marcel Sabitzer:
“He can assume a leading role from the beginning. Marcel performed really well today, showed good movement off the ball, switched flanks and went firmly into the challenges. He really did our game a lot of good today.” (cr)
