Borussia Dortmund reached the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal with a 1-0 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Wednesday evening. The eight pairings for the next round will be made at 15:50 CET on Sunday evening, with the draw broadcast live in Germany on ZDF.

The Round of 16 matches will be played on 5 and 6 December 2023. ZDF will broadcast the draw live from the German Football Museum in Dortmund as part of the transmission of the Women’s Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg. Parasport expert Denise Schindler will draw the lots.

In contrast to the two previous rounds, there will not be two separate draw pots for professional and semi-professional teams. The team drawn first has home advantage. However, teams from the 3. Liga or lower will still play at home if they meet a club from the Bundesliga or the Bundesliga 2.

 1. FC Saarbrücken are the only team still in the competition from the 3. Liga, while FC 08 Homburg are the sole representative from the Regionalliga level. Other possible opponents for BVB are VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach from the Bundesliga as well as FC St. Pauli, Fortuna Düsseldorf, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Hamburger SV, SC Paderborn, 1. FC Magdeburg, Hertha BSC and 1. FC Nürnberg from the Bundesliga 2. (cr)
