Six players from Borussia’s Youth Performance Centre will be involved when the U17 European Championships kick off in Hungary on 13 May. In addition, Dortmund’s U17s and U19s will be playing in the DFB Special Round.

Germany coach Christian Wück has called up Paris Brunner, Charles Herrmann, Almugera Kabar and Kjell Wätjen to his squad. “The EURO finals are a great opportunity for everyone to showcase themselves internationally,” said Wück, who is expecting “a challenging group phase”. His lads will face reigning champions France, Portugal and Scotland.

Raul König is in the squad for the Spanish national team, who will go up against Serbia, Italy and Slovenia in the group stages. Meanwhile, defender Nico Adamczyk will be in the squad for the Polish team for their clashes with host country Hungary, Ireland and Wales.

Liga A of the Special Round to start

The players that have been called up will be unavailable to coaches Mike Tullberg (U19) and Karsten Gorges (U17), whose teams will start Liga A of the DFB Special Round on Sunday and will face off against some attractive opponents. The U19s, who will also travel away to FC Schalke 04 in the semi-final of the Westfalenpokal this coming Wednesday (10 May at 18:00 CET), were drawn in a group with Hamburger SV (3rd in the Bundesliga Nord/Nordost final table), Rasenballsport Leipzig (7th), Fortuna Düsseldorf (4th in the Bundesliga West) and VfB Stuttgart (8th in the Bundesliga Süd/Südwest). The U17s will take on Eintracht Frankfurt (4th in the Bundesliga Süd/Südwest), VfB Stuttgart (2nd) and Werder Bremen (4th in the Bundesliga Nord/Nordost).
