The two Borussia Dortmund women’s football teams arrived at their training camp in the Kitzbühel Alps late on Wednesday evening. There are five training sessions and two friendly fixtures on the agenda for each team as part of the preparations for the league campaign, which gets under way next week.
The 69-person BVB contingent, including 48 players, flew south from Dortmund in the BVB Fan Airbus A320 on Wednesday. Like last year, the teams moved into their quarters at Hotel Mesnerwirt in Westerndorf.
“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to hold a training camp in the Kitzbühel Alps once again, especially since we’re already very familiar with the good conditions here,” commented first-team coach Thomas Sulewski. The objective has been clearly laid out: “We want to continue to integrate the new signings, work on tactical fine-tuning and gel into a cohesive unit in order to prepare ourselves in the best-possible manner for the season goals.”
For Ingo Kuhl, the head coach of the reserves, the objective is similar: “We want to continue to come together as a team, deepen our philosophy and lay the foundations for a successful season.” The second team will already play a friendly against local team SV Westendorf at the Waldstadion at 19:00 CET on Thursday. That will be followed by a match against the FC Augsburg women’s team on Saturday 19 August. Kick-off in neighbouring Brixen im Thale is at 18:30 CET.
The first team will be away to Wacker Innsbruck at the Tivoli-Stadion at 19:00 CET on Friday 18 August. The training camp will end on Sunday 20 August with a friendly fixture away to TSV 1860 Munich. Kick-off is at the training premises on Grünwalder Straße at 15:00 CET. (df)
