Borussia Dortmund have been drawn to face VfB Stuttgart in the last 16 of the 2023/24 DFB-Pokal. The tie will be played in Stuttgart on either 5 or 6 December.

Paralympian Denise Schindler made the draw for the eight Round of 16 fixtures at the German Football Museum on Sunday.

BVB kicked off this year’s cup competition with a 6-1 victory over TSV Schott Mainz in the first round in mid-August. The Black & Yellows then secured passage to the Round of 16 with a 1-0 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Wednesday evening. Stuttgart reached the last 16 with victories over Balingen (4-0) and Union Berlin (1-0).

The two teams have met five times in the DFB-Pokal to date, including three meetings in Stuttgart and two in Dortmund. The Black & Yellows have come out on top in three of these cup clashes, including the most recent one, in February 2016, which BVB won 3-1 away from home in the quarter-finals.

Borussia travel to Stuttgart this coming Saturday for Bundesliga Matchday 11.

The DFB will announce the exact schedule for the Round of 16 in due course. (cr)
