There has previously been only one 0-0 in Dortmund between BVB and Eintracht Frankfurt. This classic fixture, which is taking place for the 100th time in the league, practically guarantees goals: there are 3.3 per game on average. All the facts on our home game at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on Saturday (kick-off 18:30 CET).

The scenario: Borussia Dortmund, who currently sit in second spot, and seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt are set for their 100th Bundesliga meeting. BVB go into the matchday with a seven-point gap to the “non-Champions League places”, while Eintracht trail fourth place by nine points.

Home/away: The Black & Yellows have lost only one game at home, top the home table, and have scored at least one goal in each of their past 47 Bundesliga home games (ongoing club record) and at least two goals in each of their last nine matches at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Eintracht have lost four of their last five away games and are winless in eight matches on the road. Their last away victory came in Augsburg on 5 November 2022.

Head-to-head record: After nine home wins in a row against SGE, BVB succumbed to a defeat in their own stadium again for the first time in April 2021. The last home meeting at the start of the 2021/22 season ended in a 5-2 victory. There have been 35 home wins, six draws and eight defeats in total, with 120 goals scored and 45 conceded. The overall record is positive too: the Black & Yellows have won more matches against Eintracht than against any other club (48) and have scored the most goals against the Hesse outfit (190, 120 of them in their own stadium). Borussia have scored at least two goals in 12 of the last 13 home games. The last 0-0 – of only two in total – came in Dortmund on 11 April 1990.

Statistics: Borussia Dortmund have lost only one of their 13 Bundesliga games in 2023, have celebrated the most wins in the league (18) and have scored at least one goal in each of their last 14 Bundesliga matches. Eintracht Frankfurt are on a seven-game winless run. Their last triumph came on 18 February 23 (2-0 against Bremen). That said, SGE have already won more matches (11) than they did in the entirety of last season (10).

Biggest home win: The Black & Yellows have triumphed 6-0 against the Red & Blacks on two occasions. On 26 November 1988, Günter Breitzke was the hat-trick hero in front of 22,507 spectators with Michael Zorc, Norbert Dickel and Frank Pagelsdorf on the scoresheet too. Seven and a half years later, on 23 March 1996, Karlheinz Riedle bagged a brace in front of a sell-out 42,400 crowd in another 6-0 victory, with the other goals – which all came before the 65th minute – scored by Michael Zorc, Steffen Freund, Jörg Heinrich and Stéphane Chapuisat.
