The last week of training before the Bundesliga kick-off has begun for Borussia Dortmund’s first team. The Black and Yellows held a public training session in front of 950 fans at the youth stadium in Dortmund-Brackel on Tuesday.
It is just over five weeks since the first BVB players started their pre-season preparations ahead of the new season, and now head coach Edin Terzic’s team have just four days until the first Bundesliga match of the new season. Shortly before the start of the 2023/24 season, the BVB first team held a public training session for the fans at the Hohenbuschei training ground. After a productive one-hour training session, Mats Hummels & Co. took time for selfies and autographs, giving the fans smiles as bright as the shining Tuesday sun.
The focus of the session was on passing. The players were divided into two groups, with the coaches putting emphasis on first touch and getting the right tempo in the passes. Afterwards, they were divided into two teams to play a possession game with eight small goals. Finally, the session moved to two big goals with four players in the corners of the small pitch. The pace was high, as Terzic wanted to see his players playing sharp passes and then taking up a position in front of goal with high energy. It worked well, with Sebastien Haller impressing in particular with a few goals in the classic centre-forward role. Here’s hoping we’ll see more of the same on Saturday evening at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Kick-off against 1. FC Cologne is at 18:30 CET.
