Thorup: “It wasn’t our day today”

Match reaction to the defeat in Bremen

FC Augsburg came away empty-handed from their trip to Bremen, suffering a 2-0 defeat. Here is the match reaction.

Felix Uduokhai: “I have to say that Bremen were better in the decisive moments today, and so they deserve the win. All in all, we were unlucky today, but we’ll build from this and we know that we can do better. We’ll go into our home match next week with our heads up.”

Ermedin Demirović: “We’re annoyed to have lost, especially because we lost all the important duels. There was definitely something in it for us today. However, this result isn’t going to throw us off our stride: we need to learn from the game and keep working hard.”

Finn Dahmen: “We didn’t play well today, but we still could have taken something from the game. We didn’t manage to score and both the goals we conceded were avoidable. Therefore, it’s very annoying not to have come away with anything.”

Niklas Dorsch: “We weren’t necessarily the poorer team today, but fine margins won the game for Werder today. We shouldn’t be conceding goals like those we did today. We’re facing stronger opposition in BVB next week, and we’ll want to show the right reaction in front of our own fans.”

Jess Thorup: “It wasn’t our day today. The first 20 minutes weren’t good, but then we grew into the game and had a chance to open the scoring, which we unfortunately squandered, and that was the turning point in the game for me. The goals we conceded were unfortunate, there was potentially a foul in the first one and there was a bit of confusion for the second. We’re not looking to blame somebody or something else, though, we instead need to learn from this. We’ll process this game like we’ve been doing in the last few weeks after successful results, and we’ll keep looking forward.”

Ole Werner: “We did really well in the opening 20 minutes, and then Augsburg had a good phase. We managed to take the lead shortly before half time and made a great start to the second half, but we couldn’t find a second goal. We did eventually achieve this, with the help of some confusion regarding a substitution. On the whole, I must say that we defended well over the 90 minutes and picked up a very helpful three points.”
