Ten FCA players will not be on the training pitch in Augsburg this coming week. These players will be away on international duty during the first international break of the year.
Among them is Mergim Berisha, who could become just the fourth Augsburg player to make his debut for the Germany national team. Germany head coach Hansi Flick has called up the 24-year-old for two friendlies against Peru (Saturday, 25th March) and Belgium (Tuesday, 28th March). Maximilian Bauer will also be pulling on a Germany shirt. He has been called up by the Germany U21s for friendlies against Japan (Friday, 24th March) and Romania (Tuesday, 28th March).
Four further FCA players will be taking part in the beginning of European Championship qualification. Ruben Vargas will travel with Switzerland to Belarus (Saturday, 25th March), before then taking on Israel at home (Tuesday, 28th March). Fredrik Jensen and Finland travel to Denmark (Thursday, 23rd March) and then Northern Ireland (Sunday, 26th March). Robert Gumny has been called up by the Poland national team for games in the Czech Republic (Friday, 24th March) and against Albania (Monday, 27th March). Ermedin Demirović will turn out for Bosnia and Herzegovina against Iceland (Thursday, 23rd March) and then away in Slovakia (Sunday, 26th March).
Five players called up for international youth teams
New signings Dion Beljo and David Čolina have been called up by Croatia U21s to play friendlies against Israel (Thursday, 23rd March) and England (Tuesday, 28th March). Arne Engels has also been called up, this time for Belgium U21s. They are playing friendlies against Czechia (Friday, 24th March) and Japan (Monday, 27th March). Renato Veiga has been called up by the Portugal U20 team for games against Romania (Thursday, 23rd March) and Czechia (Tuesday, 28th March).
