FC Augsburg have secured the services of Kevin Mbabu on a season-long loan from Fulham FC. The 28-year-old defender represents Switzerland and has featured for his country since U16 level. The details of the transfer will remain undisclosed.
“Kevin is a dynamic and athletic full-back whose qualities are well-known from his previous stint in the Bundesliga. I’m pleased that Kevin is joining FCA and that he will be able to help strengthen our team with his qualities and his experience,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
“I’m excited to be returning to Germany after stints in England and Switzerland. FC Augsburg are an established Bundesliga side with a young team and a clear plan. I was immediately convinced following my talks with the club management. I want to get regular playing time again and can’t wait to get to know the team and to be on the pitch fighting for points with them,” said Mbabu.
Mbabu was at VfL Wolfsburg from 2019 to 2022, featuring in 82 competitive games for the club, including in the Europa League. He then moved to Premier League side Fulham before going on loan to Servette FC. He has earned 22 caps for Switzerland so far. Mbabu will wear the number 43 for FCA.
