FCA terminate Japhet Tanganga’s loan contract early
One matchday squad appearance
FC Augsburg have come to the agreement with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur to end Japhet Tanganga’s loan spell at FCA early. The 24-year-old, who moved to the Fuggerstadt at the end of the summer transfer window, was set to remain at the club until 30th June 2024, but will return to the UK with immediate effect.
The defender said his goodbyes to the team on Wednesday. Tanganga was forced to sit out due to knee problems at the start of the season, and missed a large proportion of the opening matches as a result. Japhet made a matchday squad for the only time in the away game against Köln at the start of November, but he was not brought onto the pitch at any point.
“Unfortunately, the loan deal, mostly as a result of injury, didn’t pan out as those involved had hoped it would. Furthermore, our back line has become more consistent over the past few months, which is why we came to the decision in a conversation with Japhet to end his loan here. We want to thank him for his dedication and wish him the best for the future, in both a sporting and personal sense,” said FCA’s sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
