FCA’s head coach Enrico Maaßen has chosen who will wear the captain’s armband for the upcoming season ahead of the first competitive fixture against SpVgg Unterhaching in the DFB-Pokal on Sunday 13th August. Ermedin Demirović will captain the side, with Niklas Dorsch and Elvis Rexhbecaj as his two deputies.

New signings Sven Michel and goalkeeper Finn Dahmen will complete the team council, alongside Mads Pedersen, who made a clear commitment to FCA prior to the start of the season by extending his contract with the club until 2027. The six-member committee will endeavour to set a good example and represent the club’s values both on and off the pitch. Functioning as a first point of contact for the coaches, sporting director and management team, the council will relay the interests of the players and take responsibility for other leadership functions.

Demirović, who transferred to Augsburg last summer from SC Freiburg and was given a leadership role almost instantly, is excited for his new challenge: “I feel immensely proud to captain FC Augsburg and lead our team out onto the pitch. Alongside my deputies Niklas Dorsch and Elvis Rexhbecaj and the entire team council, we will strive to perform as a united team who dedicates their all into winning every game and achieving our targets for the season.”
