2-1 defeat in friendly against PSV
150-minute match in Irdning
FC Augsburg suffered a 2-1 defeat across two 75-minute matches against PSV Eindhoven in their final friendly at training camp.
FCA debuted their new all-black third kit in today’s friendly, in front of nearly 400 spectators. Dion Beljo opened the scoring with a long-range effort in the 15th minute. FCA’s lead didn’t last long, however, with former Gladbach man Luuk De Jong tapping in the equaliser just four minutes later (19’). Further chances from Isaac Babadi (21’) and Beljo (34’) also went begging.
Demirović misses from the spot
Both sides made wholesale changes at the start of the second 75 minutes, as Irvin Cardona just missed hitting the target (81’). A first-time attempt from the Fuggerstädter also went wide of the target. Instead, it was PSV who would go on to take the lead, as Julian Kawaaitaal netted from a tight angle (107’). Ermedin Demirović was then able to celebrate his comeback from injury.
The attacker nearly crowned his return with a goal, but the 25-year-old had his penalty saved by Walter Benitez (123’). Maurice Malone had won the penalty after being taken down inside the box. FCA fought to draw level in the closing minutes of the match, but were unable to find the back of the net again, after Arne Engels had a goal disallowed after an offside call in the 150th minute.
