Musiala and Müller sink VfL

VfL Wolfsburg started well against Bayern Munich on Bundesliga Matchday 2 but ended up slipping to a 2-0 defeat at the home of the German champions. VfL Wolfsburg will have to do without Jonas Wind for the foreseeable future after the Danish striker picked up a serious thigh injury in training. After undergoing medical examinations, the 23-year-old will have to miss a number of weeks.

„Have to find the right solutions“

After one point from the first two league games of the season, VfL Wolfsburg have their eyes on all three against FC Schalke 04 this Saturday, 20 August (kick-off 15:30 CEST). While the Wolves lost 2-0 at Bayern Munich last Sunday, S04 – who began the campaign with defeat to Köln – rescued a late point in a 2-2 draw at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach. What is certain, however, is that the second home league game of the season offers a perfect opportunity for them to pick up some momentum. In a quick interview, VfL right-back Ridle Baku told us how he sees things ahead of the match against Schalke.

Chances galore, no goals

VfL Wolfsburg earned their second draw of the new Bundesliga season after a goalless stalemate at home to promoted side Schalke 04 on Bundesliga Matchday 3. Niko Kovac’s charges were by far the more dominant side in a game in which Koen Casteels stole the spotlight shortly before the interval by saving a penalty twice, the spot-kick having been retaken due to encroachment. After the break it was Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow’s turn to shine, the custodian keeping out a number of VfL’s efforts in front of a crowd of 26,959 at the Volkswagen Arena.
