Following the second training session of Mainz’s training camp in Grassau, Germany international Anton Stach joined a media session to answer questions from the travelling journalists. After returning later from the summer break having featured for Germany in June’s Nations League matches, ‘Stachi’ joined team training for the first time on Monday. Now he’s ready to tackle the training camp and be raring to go for the start of the season.

VfL Wolfsburg slipped to defeat as the second half of the season officially got under way on Saturday afternoon, with Niko Kovac’s side losing 2-1 away to Werder Bremen. SV Werder Bremen will host Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the wohninvest WESERSTADION on Sunday evening (17:30 CET). The first new signing of the 2022/23 season is complete, Philipp Hofmann is moving to VfL Bochum 1848. The 29-year-old striker is still under contract with Karlsruher SC until June 30, but he will join VfL as a free agent after this expires. Hofmann has scored 51 goals in 102 competitive games for KSC. At VfL, Hofmann has signed a contract until June 30, 2024.
