Following the second training session of Mainz’s training camp in Grassau, Germany international Anton Stach joined a media session to answer questions from the travelling journalists. After returning later from the summer break having featured for Germany in June’s Nations League matches, ‘Stachi’ joined team training for the first time on Monday. Now he’s ready to tackle the training camp and be raring to go for the start of the season.
After a 5th place in last year‘s tournament, the team of coach Daniel Schulz, a former Union player, wants to join the final round on Sunday this year. Union‘s Under 17 team finished the Bundesliga Nord/Nord-Ost on position nine, the biggest succes last season was the win of the Berlin Cup in May.
VfL Wolfsburg slipped to defeat as the second half of the season officially got under way on Saturday afternoon, with Niko Kovac’s side losing 2-1 away to Werder Bremen. Kevin Paredes (90′) was on target for the Wolves, whose 11-game unbeaten sequence came to an end in front of 41,000 supporters at the Weserstadion. Niclas Füllkrug (24′, 77′) scored twice for Bremen, with the result leaving VfL in seventh place in the table.

SV Werder Bremen will host Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the wohninvest WESERSTADION on Sunday evening (17:30 CET). The first new signing of the 2022/23 season is complete, Philipp Hofmann is moving to VfL Bochum 1848. The 29-year-old striker is still under contract with Karlsruher SC until June 30, but he will join VfL as a free agent after this expires. The rumored move to Bayern Munich for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is losing steam. Per transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Kane is unlikely to leave England, which could mean Bayern Munich’s hopes for a striker could reside elsewhere:
