The 23-year-old Dane, who has been an FC Augsburg player since October 2020 and remains under contract until 30th June 2025, only featured in the DFB-Pokal defeat at Unterhaching this season. The centre-back was an unused substitute in three Bundesliga games, including the recent home match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

That’s why we’ve decided to extend his contract long-term until 2027. Among others, Christopher Quiring, Karim Benyamina and Christian Stuff will be on the pitch for Union.

The central defender had returned to the team earlier than expected after sustaining a knee injury in the USA. He came on for Niklas Süle, who was suffering from a minor back issue, around the half-hour mark and took no time to settle in. Schlotterbeck won every (!) challenge and boasted an outstanding pass completion ratio of 97% – as did Mats Hummels. “I came straight from warming up and fortunately they didn’t press.
