“Appeal and charisma did not suffer in the pandemic”

At the annual results press conference, the core message conveyed by the management on the figures for the 2022/23 financial year was: Borussia Dortmund have successfully overcome the effects of the pandemic, are growing again, are in the black and are working on again being able to propose a dividend payout to the Supervisory Board next year for the 2023/24 financial year.

Union to Host SK Rapid

SK Rapid have won the Austrian championship 32 times. With only two exceptions (both times when they came in 5th place), the Viennese club have never finished worse than third in the league. Their most recent title, however, was back in 2008, largely because in 2005 SV Austria Salzburg became RB Salzburg, and they have won the title 14 times since then.

U19s in Wuppertal, U17s to host Oberhausen

U19 boss Mike Tullberg will be able to return to the coaching zone after serving his suspension in Wuppertal, while Charles Herrmann will return to the squad after serving a ban of his own for picking up a red card. “We must perform from the beginning with the same concentration and intensity as in the second half against Aachen,” demanded Tullberg, adding: “If we don’t give 100%, it will be difficult against any opponent.” He is full of respect for Wuppertaler SV. “We know from the past: the pitch conditions are difficult and on a sporting level, we can expect a team that defends compactly, takes good set-pieces and tries to make an impact with counter-attacks.”

DFB-Pokal draw: Bayern Munich’s conquerors draw the strongest side

This might be unfortunate for Freiburg as despite being a man up and a goal up, they conceded late in last season’s final and proceeded to lose the title on penalties. However, as another one of the teams left in the competition knows very well (ahem.. Frankfurt), sometimes, losing a final or a semifinal is impetus to go ahead and win the title. Freiburg kept Bayern Munich reasonably quiet over 90 minutes, there is no reason they shouldn’t keep Leipzig quiet and get a result.
