After the international break, SV Werder are raring to go as we move into the business end of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season. Head coach Ole Werner answered journalists’ questions at the press conference ahead of Matchday 27’s home game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, 30th March (15:30 CET).
Winther, who moved to Augsburg from Lyngby BK in October 2020, made seven competitive appearances for the Fuggerstädter in total. The centre-back made two of his seven competitive appearances in the DFB-Pokal, whilst he also featured five times in the Bundesliga. Winther spent five months on loan at Bröndby IF in his native Denmark last season, before moving to Portugal on loan this season. He made two appearances, including one start for the side currently sitting 14th in the Primeira Liga.
The haggling between the clubs took to find the right price took a while, but the two clubs have finally reach an agreement, according to Sunday times correspondent Jonathan Northcroft, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. Northcroft also reports that Barry will finalize his switch in “a few days.” Additionally, The Athletic reporter Simon Johnson says that Bayern will pay Chelsea “close to 1 million pounds.” So we can probably infer that the fee is 1 million euros.
The first of those takes SC to Mönchengladbach. It’s the same situation for SC as it is for lots of other clubs: Some players were away with their national teams and gradually started to arrive back in Freiburg from various countries on Wednesday, with the only day for a full training session together being Friday. “I can’t say how we’ll play yet today: Tomorrow we’ve got the only training session, in which we can work on something tactical together,” Streich explained. All the internationals featured on the pitch during the international break, whilst Streich was particularly pleased with Attila Szalai’s game time: “It’s great that he played twice. He’s been a bit unfortunate with us recently.”
