Seoane: “We need to improve” Head coach Gerardo Seoane answered the media’s questions in his press...
Eren Dinkci will not return to SV Werder Bremen as planned in the summer. The forward, who is currently on loan at fellow Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim, has informed the Werder board that he will be joining SC Freiburg at the end of the season after activating an exit clause in his contract.
Oliver Kahn, Hasan Salihamidzic and Herbert Hainer have all repeatedly backed their decision to replace Nagelsmann with Tuchel despite Bayern having only won twice in seven times of asking across all competitions. The club is on the verge of finishing the season trophyless for the first time in quite some time, but the front office insists that Nagelsmann wasn’t meeting the sporting requirements desired by the club and that’s mostly what caused them to feel that it was time to make the change.
Michael Müller joined Freiburg’s academy as a youth player in 2006 and was part of the team that won the German U19 title in 2008. Müller was the first team’s third-choice goalkeeper in the 2008/09 season and played for the second team in the fourth division. He went on to play for VfL Wolfsburg’s U23s and 1. FC Saarbrücken. He returned to SC in 2014 and was the goalkeeping coach for the academy and the U23s. The 34-year-old has been the first team’s goalkeeping coach since the 2022/23 season.
That this coming Sunday’s match will be between the only two unbeaten teams in the Regionalliga Nordost was not necessarily to be expected before the season. While Union have great ambitions, FC Carl Zeiss Jena II have been more of a mid-table team in the league in recent years, finishing sixth in last two seasons.
After facing SV Sandhausen last weekend, Jan Zimmermann’s team now prepare to go toe-to-toe with another heavyweight opponent with Bundesliga 2 experience. Ingolstadt spent many years in the second tier and even played in the Bundesliga from 2015 to 2017. However, they dropped down to the 3. Liga in 2022.
SV Werder Bremen will open matchday 28 in the Bundesliga with a trip to face Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday evening (5th April, 20:30 CEST). The week leading up to the match saw the club announce the departures of Nick Woltemade and Eren Dinkci, as well as an injury lay-off for Justin Njinmah, although their focus on preparing for Friday never wavered. “Despite everything that’s going on, we’re heading there to win,” head coach Ole Werner said during the pre-match press conference.
Unfortunately, with he way things are going, even Mainz looks like a nigh-insurmountable challenge to Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern.
“Those in charge at Freiburg approached me pretty early on and made me feel good from the start. I already knew then that I wanted to go down this path,” Erin Dinkçi said. “I believe I’ve just got a flow and I’d like to take this with me to Freiburg. I’ve played here with Werder previously and things went well at the ground. I’m really looking forward to this atmosphere.”
