Six wins, 18 points and second place in the table, it’s fair to say that Stuttgart’s fans will be happy with their best start to a season in 28 years. Although they only managed to stay in the league last year by a whisker, winning the relegation playoff, Stuttgart are currently one of the best teams in the Bundesliga. The statistics are impressive; after seven matches, the Swabians have scored more goals than they did in the entire first half of last season. In addition, VfB have won four home games in a row and have won the last five games by at least a two-goal difference.
Marcel Schäfer has left VfL Wolfsburg. The 39-year-old informed supervisory board chairman Frank Witter of his wish to move clubs and terminate his contract as VfL’s managing director for sport.
Taking all circumstances into account, the decision was made to relieve Schäfer of his duties with immediate effect.
With Paris Saint-Germain losing the other game 3-2 away to AC Milan, BVB now sit second in UEFA Youth League Group F behind AC Milan (9 points) and ahead of Paris St. Germain (6). Beforehand (28 November), the Black & Yellows will travel to Milan.
Ole Werner was pleased to see a trio of Werder players back in team training on Wednesday. Milos Veljkovic, Felix Agu and Marvin Ducksch all returned to full training after working individually on Tuesday. Agu and Ducksch were only partly involved in Wednesday morning’s session.
Even club legend Thomas Müller’s future is in doubt in Bavaria these days:
