“Prove that by winning points”

Niklas Stark is not hugely fond of New Year’s resolutions. When he wants to change something, he does so immediately, rather than waiting for a specific date. In an interview on Thursday afternoon, the 28-year-old provided an insight into what the Green-Whites have been working on over the Winter break and aim to implement into their performances in the second half of the season.

Aaron Zehnter moves to the 2. Bundesliga

The 19-year-old was instead one of the key players for our U23 side in the Regionalliga Bayern, appearing in 16 of 21 possible matches. Now, Zehnter, who joined Augsburg from the Würzburger Kickers youth set-up in 2019, is making the jump into the 2. Bundesliga, having transferred to SC Paderborn with immediate effect. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee.

“FCA showed me their view of how my individual development could look in order to become a long-term part of FCA’s first team. I’m honoured that FCA see my potential, but with this transfer I wanted to take the chance to develop further as a regular team member for a 2. Bundesliga club,” Aaron Zehnter said, explaining his decision to move.

New Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel tips his hat to Julian Nagelsmann

Step one, a Der Klassiker win over Dortmund, is now in the books. But the media is still abuzz with the fallout of Nagelsmann’s unexpected sacking, and many of the Bayern players are still processing it themselves. It’s an unusual position Tuchel finds himself in. Often, the new coach comes in after the old one leaves the club in tatters and everyone is ready for a new voice. Tuchel has a fine line to walk — and so far, he’s threading the needle with aplomb.

Union Face Royale Union Saint-Gilloise… Again

“You can’t always get what you want out of a draw,” said Oliver Ruhnert, Union’s director of professional football. “So it’s Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, who we already played in the group phase, and are the only team to have won a match at the Alte Försterei for a long time. So we have something to make up for in the first leg. I think they will be two very open games between two teams with a similar style of play. Our goal must be to achieve a good result in the first leg.”

VfL Wolfsburg

“I LIKE THE ADRENALINE KICK”

The announcement of the one-year contract extension for Pavao Pervan should have delighted all VfL fans. After all, the 36-year-old is seen as the perfect back-up to first-choice goalkeeper Koen Casteels. It’s no coincidence that VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz praised “Pavo” for his reliability on the pitch but also his special standing in the team structure.
