U19s facing another top match against Mönchengladbach

BVB need four more points from their two matches at home to the Foals and away to Bayer Leverkusen (11 March) in order to be totally sure of a place in the Final Round of the German Championship. After their amazing achievement against Paris Saint-Germain, whom they knocked out on penalties, Mike Tullberg’s team will need to produce another show of strength. Some personnel changes are to be expected compared to the match in the UEFA Youth League, especially given that Silas Ostrzinski, Göktan Gürpüz, Abdoulaye Kamara and Prince Aning are only available to play on the international stage. Jaden Korzynietz, Michel Ludwig and Rafael Lubach are contenders to return to the starting line-up.

Edin Terzic: ”Both teams will be going for the win”

The training ground in Dortmund-Brackel is becoming more crowded: Julian Ryerson has been back in team training since the beginning of the week after sitting out last weekend with an eye infection. Mateu Morey and Julien Duranville have completed parts of team training, while Karim Adeyemi is expected to resume ball-work on Friday or Saturday. Unlike Ryerson, the latter three and Youssoufa Moukoko will not yet be ready to play against Leipzig.

”An exceptional performance” by the U19s against PSG

”It was an exceptional performance, and it’s an exceptional performance to make it into the best eight teams in Europe. You can tell that this competition means a lot to both coaches and players,” said a delighted Lars Ricken, director of the hugely successful BVB academy, following the intense and high-quality clash with the heavily-favoured French club. A mature and measured team performance was rewarded through victory in a penalty shootout after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
