Danilho Doekhi signs for Union

Born in Rotterdam, Doekhi began to show his promise and was recruited by Excelsior Rotterdam’s youth academy. His talent didn’t go unnoticed and he was presented the opportunity to join one of Europe’s top clubs. Ajax signed the 18-year-old for their famous academy and Doekhi went straight to work with team-mates Mathis De Ligt, Justin Kluivert and Mitchel Bakker. But after two challenging years in Amsterdam, Doekhi packed his bags and signed for Vitesse Arnhem. There, he was given an opportunity to experience first-team football and develop in a club aspiring for success in the Eredivisie.

For VfL Wolfsburg, a home match against FC Augsburg is on the schedule on Saturday 1 April (kick-off 15:30 CEST) as seventh hosts 12th in the table. SV Werder Bremen were beaten 2-1 (0-0) by RB Leipzig and couldn’t secure a point. In a fast-paced and intense game, Ole Werner’s eleven had to hold on against an attacking Leipzig side. The hosts scored after a chance for Werder to make it 1-0 (66’), but referee Florian Badstübner disallowed the goal after a VAR check due to a foul on Leonardo Bittencourt, who scored shortly afterwards for the Green-Whites to make it 1-0 (70’). After the goal, Leipzig moved up a gear and just a few minutes before the final whistle, Willi Orban equalised (87’), before Dominik Szoboszlai (90+6’) scored the winner to make it 2-1.
