Lovro Majer, who joined VfL last summer, caught the eye with his brace at home to TSG Hoffenheim last weekend. After earning the Wolves a share of the spoils with his third and fourth goals of the campaign, the 26-year-old Croatian spoke to us about his new home at VfL, his optimism ahead of the Green-and-Whites’ upcoming assignments and Saturday’s opponents Union Berlin.
Lovro Majer, congratulations first of all on your double off the bench against Hoffenheim. Was that your best game in a Wolves shirt to date, in your opinion?
Lovro Majer: “Thanks very much. It was definitely my best game so far because I scored two goals and helped us get a point. I obviously would have been happier if we’d won the game.”
You’ve been here over six months now. How do you feel you have settled in Wolfsburg?
Lovro: “I think I’ve settled in really well. I’m very happy here in the city and at the club. Our current form could be better – that’s the most important thing – but overall I’m happy with the way things are going for me personally.”
You haven’t lost any of your four games so far in 2024, but you haven’t won yet either. How do you assess the current situation on the pitch?
Lovro: “The situation obviously isn’t what we’d envisaged in terms of results, points and our position in the table. We know we can do much, much better as a team, but on the other hand I see every day how hard we’re working and that we’re doing all we can to turn things around and put ourselves in a better position in the standings. I’m confident we’ll start winning games again soon.”
