Knee injury to Dan-Axel Zagadou

Dan-Axel Zagadou sustained a lateral collateral ligament injury and a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee during Wednesday’s training session. The 24-year-old has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The centre-back has featured in every Bundesliga and DFB Cup match this season. 

VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “The news on Daxo’s injury hit us all pretty hard yesterday and we sincerely wish him a full and speedy recovery. We saw how valuable he is to our team in the first half of the season. Daxo holds a lot of things together for us on and off the pitch. He is a warm, always positive guy and will not only be missed on the pitch but also in the dressing room. Despite the shock, this will lead to even greater unity and a reaction from us.“
