VfL Wolfsburg can announce their third new signing ahead of the new campaign. Following the arrivals of Cedric Zesiger and Moritz Jenz, the Green-and-Whites have now secured the services of 25-year-old Czech international winger Vaclav Cerny, who joins the Wolves on a four-year contract from FC Twente.

VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz: “We’re really pleased that Vaclav has chosen VfL and our path. He’s a very good goalscorer who has emphatically demonstrated his qualities in Enschede and is far from fulfilling his potential. We’re confident he can take the next step in his career in Wolfsburg and will be an important reinforcement for our attack.”

A product of Ajax’s youth academy, Cerny joined Twente in 2020/21 after a spell at FC Utrecht. The attacker particularly caught the eye with his impressive performances last season, registering 15 goals and 13 assists in 41 competitive appearances. He was directly involved in 24 league goals, putting him third in the Eredivisie’s combined goals and assists chart.

Cerny, who has also scored four goals in 11 appearances for the Czech national side, is relishing his new challenge: “I can’t wait to finally get going. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world. It’s always been my dream to play here and I’m very happy that I get to wear VfL Wolfsburg’s colours next season.”
