Almost even more important for coach Karsten Gorges was the return of Elias Benkara and Alex Niziolek, who made their comebacks after months out injured. Werder beat SV Drochtersen/Assel 2-1

In sunny 33 degree heat, SV Werder Bremen faced SV Drochtersen/Assel on Sunday afternoon at the Stadion am Berliner Ring in Verden. Oliver Burke then gave Werder the lead in the 79th minute, making it 2-1. The first friendly of the 2023/24 season therefore ended in a victory.
