Demirović: “We showed a strong side to our game”

Dorsch: It’s incredibly difficult to come back from 2-0 down in Munich. In order to be able to come back and take anything from a game like that, you need everything to go your way. The goals we conceded today were pretty unlucky. I knew straight away that I’d handballed it, but wasn’t sure whether it was in the box or not. We played well for most of the game and always tried to set accents of our own. To be able to score against a team with that much individual quality shows that we are able to deal with set-backs and that the mentality within the team is strong.

Pedersen: We obviously go into every game intending to take something from it. Everyone knows that FC Bayern are a tough opponent and that they have a lot of quality in their team. Nevertheless, we managed to keep our shape and kept looking to attack, even after having conceded twice. We need to take that with us as encouragement. Unfortunately, we were just a little bit lacking in both defence and attack, which we will make sure to analyse in order to keep working on it.

Uduokhai: We started strongly and I think we played really well for the first 30 minutes or so. Then, we conceded two unfortunate goals. We wanted to give it everything in the second half in order to claw our way back into the game, but Bayern’s individual quality was too much for us in the end.

Demirović: We delivered a strong performance in Munich and left it all out on the pitch. We wanted to cause an upset here, but unfortunately didn’t manage to do so. Instead, we conceded two silly goals and it’s frustrating that I wasn’t able to take my chances to give us the lead, because you won’t get given many chances here. We still showed a strong side to ourselves in both our games this season and if we continue on this path, then I’m confident we will be successful.

Maaßen: There were a lot of things that we’d set out to do that we managed to do well. We played well for 30 minutes and had a chance to take the lead. Unfortunately, we then conceded two unfortunate goals. We knew that we need to get through the opening 15 minutes of the second half in order to have a chance of getting back in the game. But, we lost possession too often while under pressure and weren’t able to turn things around. Nevertheless, I think we showed a strong morale and managed to score a nice goal at the end. Overall, it was a solid performance, but in the end it comes down to points, and we’re going home empty-handed.

Tuchel: We’ve been struggling at home lately and then needed an own goal and a penalty in order to give us that feeling of security. We looked calmer and more precise in the second half and created more chances. We could have added to the scoreline and instead conceded a goal. Overall though, we’ve managed to get our second win in our second game.

Bayern Munich Alumni: Franck Ribéry comments on Kingsley Coman’s form renaissance

Ribéry was asked about his opinion on Kingsley Coman’s recent resurgence after the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and Ribéry had the following to say (captured by @iMiaSanMia on Twitter):

Hertha Berlin

Dárdai & Ngankam make Germany U21s squad

In Márton Dárdai and Jessic Ngankam, Hertha have two players called up to the Germany U21s squad for the U21s EUROs. Antonio Di Salvo originally called up a provisional squad of 26 players, including goalkeepers, before cutting three players on 14th June.

Angelo Stiller leaves TSG Hoffenheim

“Angelo is without question a talented player. Last season, however, he did not get the playing time that he expected and it has therefore been signalled to us for some time that he does not see his future at Hoffenheim,” said Alexander Rosen. “Even his recent appearances could not change that, which is why we ultimately agreed to the transfer while also taking the economic aspects into account,” explained the TSG Managing Director.

Away supporters permitted in Europe

“However, the late timing of the decision unfortunately shows a lack of respect for the concerns of football fans. The first matches will take place in the coming week and meaningful planning is made unnecessarily difficult for most people in this way. This consideration has obviously not played any role at all with the UEFA Executive Committee. This is regrettable and it should change in the future.”

Lena Hausherr expecting an ”exciting and emotional weekend”

On Friday, you and the team will depart for Graz. What will your expectations be as you board the flight?
”I don’t think we should make the trip there with set expectations in our head. I am sure that it will be a hugely exciting and emotional weekend. I’m looking forward to it and will be sure to enjoy it to the fullest!”
