The clash between SV Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday evening ended level with a 2-2 draw under the floodlights at BORUSSIA-PARK. The Green-Whites got off to a flying start thanks to an opener from Rafael Borré (7’), and held onto their lead until just after the break, when Rocco Reitz’s brace seemingly shattered the visitors’ hopes of three points (45’, 49’). However, Marvin Ducksch had other ideas, as the Germany international secured the equaliser for Werder in the 76th minute and rewarded the Green-Whites for their strong performance.
Head coach Jess Thorup made one change to the team that lost 2-0 in Bremen in FCA’s last game. Arne Engels was handed a spot in the starting XI, while Sven Michel and Arne Maier returned to the bench – Maier had recovered from his ankle injury to make the squad for the first time in two months.

Gregoritsch and his teammates can once again expect to be playing in front of a lively home crowd in Sunday’s contest against Köln. Last season, Freiburg did the double over the side from Cologne, with Gregoritsch scoring in SCF’s 2-0 win at the Europa-Park Stadion. The overall head-to-head record is also in favour of Sport-Club, having won 21 out of 44 games in all competitions (D8, L15).
Oliver Baumann: “I think we were in control and were defensively solid – apart from the goals we conceded. That was a step forward against a good attack, because it was actually a good game and therefore an unnecessary defeat. Nonetheless, we still need to work on the details. It can’t be that Ngoumou has so much space in front of goal. We have to concede fewer goals. Today is an unlucky defeat. We have to stay on our path, then I’m positive about the future.”
