Porto is home for Diogo Leite. He made his first steps in football in Matosinhos, a suburb of Porto. At Leixoes SC, Leite was there only until his eighth birthday before one of Portugal’s biggest clubs made their move. Other than a stint at Padroense at U17 level, Leite was part of the FC Porto setup all the way through. Leite went on to win the U17 European Championships with Portugal and scored in penalties against Spain in the final.
The Wolves returned to Bundesliga action in impressive style with a 6-0 win at home to SC Freiburg. Patrick Wimmer opened the scoring for VfL in just the second minute, before a Jonas Wind brace (28’, 37’) made it 3-0 at the break. In the second half, Yannick Gerhardt got his name on the scoresheet (57’), followed by a brilliant strike from Ridle Baku to make it 5-0 (80’). Luca Waldschmidt rounded things off with a penalty in the fourth minute of added time.

FCA head coach Enrico Maaßen made two changes to the side that beat TSG Hoffenheim 1-0 last time out. Elvis Rexhbecaj and Felix Uduokhai were sidelined with muscle injuries, with Niklas Dorsch and Iago coming into the starting line-up in their place. This was Dorsch’s first start of the season, as the midfielder had been out for a long time through injury himself.
However, head coach Julian Nagelsmann selected Noussair Mazraoui over the Frenchman once again in the Rekordmeister’s 6-2 win over Mainz 05. Nagelsmann insisted that it was no big deal and that there was some reasoning behind the move.
Sandro Schwarz kept faith in the starting eleven that started the important 4-1 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach for Sunday’s away game against Borussia Dortmund. Hertha played a 3-5-2 formation as they had done against the Foals. There was one change on the bench, with Agustín Rogel returning to the matchday squad having overcome a knee injury and Pascal Klemens dropping out.
